The art project Kunstfreiheit brings a piece of Leipzig's art history straight to your home. But how is one of these unique wall pieces actually created? A look behind the scenes shows the complex creation process and the handwork that goes into every single work of art.
Michael Fischer-Art and his team carefully remove the murals from the original wall piece by piece. This is a complex and time-consuming process, as the structure and colors should be retained in the best possible way. After careful removal, the individual parts are securely packaged and transported.
The larger wall pieces go to the studio in Borna, where they can be purchased during private sales events. Another part of the works of art is further processed on aluminum and canvas plates especially for the variants.
Here in Leipzig, the wall pieces are cut by hand into smaller segments and then applied to high-quality aluminum or canvas boards. Each piece is glued with great care and must then dry before it is securely packaged and prepared for sale.
The entire process from replacement to completion takes time, but the results speak for themselves. Each work of art remains an authentic part of the Leipzig art scene and is made with great attention to detail. The effort is worthwhile, because the quality and precision craftsmanship ensures that every piece of wall retains its uniqueness.
